Waikato Specialist Orthodontists

Mark Ewing (Dr)

Mark’s specialist training from the Eastman Dental Centre, New York and his interest in cleft palate treatment make him highly qualified to treat all orthodontic problems.

Having qualified as a dentist at the University of Otago, Mark began his early career as a maxillofacial house surgeon at Waikato Hospital. After two years of general dental practice in New Zealand and London, Mark moved on to the highly regarded Eastman Dental Centre, Rochester, New York.

Following a further two years as a clinical research fellow in the cranial facial department of the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Mark returned to New Zealand in 1988 to open a private practice in Hamilton and raise a family. A published expert on the treatment of cleft palates in children, Mark is the Consulting Orthodontist for Waikato Hospital’s cleft palate team. It is this highly regarded skill set that Mark brings to patients of all ages which ensures excellent results, particularly on more complex cases.
Based at Hamilton Orthodontics on Pembroke St, with its great off street patient parking, Mark and Andrew Quick work in partnership, as specialists leading their outstanding team.

Outside orthodontics, Mark’s overflowing garage is a testament to his love of sport. If he’s not mountain biking, he’s playing golf or fishing. Mark lives with his wife and the youngest of his 3 children on what he calls his life sentence block on the outskirts of Hamilton.
